Principal's Message
Welcome to Washington Elementary School! The faculty and staff at Washington are very proud of our school, and we believe we provide our students a positive and nurturing environment in which to learn and grow. We are committed to the academic success of our students, and are equally as passionate about their personal and social growth. We believe that our motto, “Educating all Children”, speaks to the mission we attempt to carry out every day in meeting the diverse needs of our students.
We receive outstanding support from our parents, formally through our “Parent / Teacher Group” volunteers, and informally through the various ways our parents partner with us to enhance their child’s education. Please feel free to contact our school at any time (641-472-9311). Visitors are welcome.
Washington Elementary is located at 406 East Madison. We are two blocks north of Highway 34 and “D” Street. Washington is a double section (K-5) building serving approximately 280 students. Our original building was built in 1911 and razed in 1981. Our current building is the result of three separate building projects conducted in 1968, 1981, and 1996.
