Each school month, the Fairfield Elks Club sponsors the Fairfield Middle School Student of the Month award. The following students are honorees of the April 2008 awards.

6th grade:

Rachel Biggs:

Rachel is an outstanding addition to any classroom. With quiet determination, she tackles tasks head-on. This year, she single-handedly managed publicity for the middle school play, learning new computer programs and exhibiting her typical patience when completing multiple drafts. Rachel's opinions are always formed by consistent observation and careful thought, so when discussing in class, she is confident and articulate when expressing them. Rachel is not afraid of hard work. This work ethic combined with her positive attitude make great results in the classroom. Way to go, Rachel!

Matthew Carr:

Matthew Carr can take charge of a situation and manage it well. He works well with other students, is willing to lend a helping hand when needed, and is respectful to others. He is pleasant, polite, works hard to do things right, and puts forth great effort to do well. Matthew is a team player and a definite asset to our Fairfield Middle School. Congratulations, Matthew!

7th grade:

Tamicka Burks:

Tamicka is a great student to have in class. Her bubbly attitude makes her a fun person both in and outside of the classroom. Tamicka does a good job working with other students and relating to her teachers. She is a hard worker and is not afraid to challenge herself. Tamicka is involved in extra-curricular activities; making her a very well-rounded young lady.

Tyler Guffey:

Tyler is a fun student to have in class. He has a great attitude both with students and with teachers. He does a great job working with other students in groups as well as taking the initiative to work on individual projects. Tyler's attitude makes him one of the leaders in the classroom as he is hard-working and fun.

8th grade:

Amanda Chatfield:

Amanda Chatfield is the 8th grade student of the month selection. Amanda showed her ability to lead in her role as prop mistress for this year's production of Charlotte's Web. In the classroom, she models appropriate behavior and holds others in the classroom to the same standard. She has consistently shown responsibility by turning assignments in on time and well done. If a teacher needs someone to help others, Amanda is a good choice, since she is always willing to share her knowledge and understanding with others in the room. Her good attitude, politeness, and sense of humor make her a joy to have in class.

Nathan Maynard:

Nathan Maynard is our selection for the April Eighth Grade Student of the Month. Nathan is hard working student who has put forth extra effort to earn consistently good grades over the last three years at FMS. Nathan gets along with everyone and really knows how to brighten up a classroom. Nathan has maintained a cheerful and optimistic outlook on life and has shown much courage and grace in the face of adversity. Nathan is a true inspiration to the other students and staff; we wish him the best as he moves on to High School.
