Students Receive Bullying and Harassment Training

Chief Deputy Morton spends time meeting with students

     On Friday October 3rd, Chief Deputy Gregg Morton with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department spent the day meeting with middle school students regarding harassment and bullying. Chief Deputy Morton shared some personal stories with the students, ranging from his days here at Fairfield Middle School to spending time at Camp David protecting President Ronald Reagan. 

     During his interaction with the students, Morton stressed the legal definitions and repercussions that can be involved when bullying and harassment are reported. He also discussed the proper people who needed to be contacted if a student felt they were being harassed or bullied.
Students also learned about tazer guns and other equipment that law enforcement utilize when dealing with the public. Chief Deputy Gregg Morton stressed the importance of communication first before any further action needed to be taken.
