More Businesses Per Capita

The Fairfield area is known around the state for having a variety of cultures and businesses. The Chamber of Commerce represents nearly 400 businesses, which accounts for about 70% of all businesses in Fairfield. Brent Willett, Executive Director for the Chamber said, "It's hard to get an exact number of businesses because of all of the entrepreneurial activity."
Many of FHS' students are employed by companies around town. Drew Skinner, FHS senior, works as a CNA for Parkview Care Center. Amy Goehring works in the Meat Department at Hy-Vee, and Morgan Moss works for Chappell Studios. Levi Wood works for Loglis.
Fairfield's rich history in entrepreneurship has caused a national interest to grow regarding the city. Fairfield was voted as one the "12 Great Places You've Never Heard of" in the August/September 2006 issue of Mother Earth News.
