Silent Knights Invisible Arts Club

"It's Good to Shut Up Sometimes" - Marcel Marceau

by Adeara Maurice

On May 27th, 2008 history will be changed forever. Fairfield will have its first, but certainly not its last, invisible art show put on by the talented mimes at Fairfield High School.

Silent Knights Invisible Arts Club, also known as SKIAC, has only been created recently by Mr. Kevin Hosbond. After seeing a mime show put on by West Des Moines Valley he had a thrilling idea. He would create a mime troupe. He had the performance space, creativity, and mimes. Success was within his reach.

Silent Knights Invisible Arts Club, or SKIAC, will put on two shows for the community each year; one in the spring and one in the fall. The SKIAC hopes to perform small gigs, as well as branch out and perform outside of Fairfield. Many mimes within SKIAC has preformed mime before. The board members have all been on the mime team for at least two years. The other members have all been on speech team, some on mime, for at least one year.

Speech students that had served in mime for two years qualified as board members. The board members of SKIAC include Kirsten Adam, John Bovard, Mallory Burgraaf, Jonnie Cohen, Jamie Eversage, Laurie Johnson, Sylviane Openshaw, and Caitlin Troutt. As wonderful and talented as these board members are they knew they couldn’t do the whole show by themselves. The board members got together and held auditions. Many talented individual auditioned and after many hours of silent debate the following members were introduced to SKIAC: Jason Burkhardt, Nibriti Dhungana, Nikita Dhungana, Nitish Dhungana, Alex Rebling, Cameron Sales, and Joanne Shephard. The squires, or attendants to the Silent Knights, include: Hannah Graber and Natashia Hill.

The mime troupe will have their premier at the FHS auditorium on May 27th, 2008 at 7:30 pm. The cost to get in is free. All that is required is the ability to shut up and enjoy a good show.
