Board Mission Statement and Goals
MISSIONSTATEMENT
The mission of the Fairfield Community School Board of Directors is to support students, staff, administrative team and teachers of the Fairfield Community School District in preparing all students to be life-long learners through participation in a comprehensive educational program characterized by mutual respect, pursuit of excellence, personalized instruction, a challenging and diverse curriculum and a safe, healthy environment.
BOARD GOALS FOR 2006-2007
1. The Board of Education will give the highest priority to academics and, secondly, to physical and social concerns, creating the best possible educational environment with respect to all the district's available resources.
• Monitor and evaluate the implementation of licensed staff’s career development plans.
• Monitor and evaluate the Fairfield Alternative School (Opportunity Center) and Fairfield At- risk Programs.
• Continue with the “Early Start” program through IHCC.
• Continue the process of aligning Standards/Benchmarks/Assessments with curriculum.
• Continue to monitor and improve the physical environment in all buildings. This process will be enhanced by holding a minimum of two meetings per year at alternate sites/schools within the district.
• Review and approve district’s infrastructure plan on an annual basis.
2. All Board of Education members will become better informed of their role and responsibility through attendance and participation at instructional meetings, e.g. ABLE, conventions, etc.
3. The Board of Education will continue to support technology by promoting staff development and investing in hardware and software that will enhance student skills with periodic reports to the Board of Education.
4. The Board of Education will continue an expanded dialogue with graduates regarding their preparation for their next level of endeavor.
• The board will continue with senior “Exit Interviews.”
• The board will evaluate a follow-up graduate and G.E.D. survey.
• New data collection procedures will be evaluated.
5. The Board of Education encourages on-going communication with the administrative team, students, district employees and the community.
6. The Board of Education will actively promote education as a priority of the community.
• Through press releases.
• Through monitoring of the district shared decision-making model.
• Through utilization of community and business resources.
7. The Board of Education will keep the district in a stable financial condition through long-range planning and cost containment strategies.
8. The Board of Education resolves to continue an on-going self-assessment process in order to better serve the district's students.
9. The Board of Education will be aware of the need to build trust and maintain open communication between and among all board members.
