Journalism
The students in Mr. Scott Slechta's journalism class are extending their experience beyond the printed page. The first quarter the students studied the history and ethics of journalism. They then focused on journalistic writing style for news, feature, and sport stories, and editorials. To further this study, a unit on layout and design, allowed the students to create a newspaper as a collection of their written stories. In the second quarter, they then changed their focus to electronic media. They wrote a treatment, a script, and a story board for an actual movie titled "A Day in the Life of a Freshman." This is used for freshman orientation. As the students finish this quarter, the electronic media project is a web-based newsletter. Each student had to develop a theme through an introductory page and four related articles. To view these, please click on the students' name and continue to browse their newsletter.
