Meet Jennifer Clements
Pence Elementary Special Education Teacher
Jennifer was raised in Fairfield and graduated from FHS in 2013. She attended Iowa State (go Cyclones) and graduated in 2017 with her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with endorsements in level I special education, reading, and math. Jennifer graduated from Morningside in 2019 with her Master's degree in level II/III special education. Jennifer started her career at Fairfield Middle School for four years. She loved the people but wanted to work with younger students, so Jennifer switched to Pence Elementary, which is her second year.
This year, Jennifer switched from a mild/moderate position to severe/profound. Jennifer loves the challenge she gets to face every day with great associates and her fellow special education teachers, the Hannahs, and the principal.
Jennifer’s mom Sheila just recently retired from the school district and her dad Scott is close to retiring from Walmart Super Center in Mt. Pleasant. Her brother Justin owns Outdoor Oasis and is the most hardworking guy she knows. He recently married Jennifer’s sister-in-law Kristen who is like another sister to her. Jennifer lives with her boyfriend Cristian and the boys (dogs) Rocky Road and Snowden Jo. They are mini Australian Shepherds and keep Jennifer on her toes.
Jennifer’s sweet sister Jessica, who was born with Down Syndrome, was her best friend since Jennifer could remember. She was always her reason for about everything Jennifer did. Jennifer loved Jessica’s love for life. Jessica taught Jennifer to focus on the big picture, dance, and laugh often. Jessica sadly passed away in 2020 from Covid. Since then, Jennifer has continued her passion for life and focused on the positive.
A staff member stated that Jennifer always brings a smile to work and an uplifting perspective to any situation. Jennifer’s passion for the students she serves shines through all she does. Thank you, Jennifer, we appreciate you and all you bring to your team!
