Meet Juliana Harward
Fairfield Middle School
Julia was born in Burlington but raised in Stockport, Iowa. She graduated high school at Van Buren in 2006 and received her AA in Early Childhood in 2009. Julia worked at many different jobs before becoming a paraprofessional in 2018. While being a paraprofessional, she was urged to continue her journey to become a teacher. Julia graduated from William Penn with her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement in Special Education in May of 2022. Julia student-taught with Shawn Klehm at FMS last year and immediately fell in love with the students and culture. She applied for a position (which she was offered!!) This is Julia’s first year, and she loves being a teacher more than she ever could have imagined; even though she has known her whole life, this is what she was meant to do.
Julia’s family consists of her boyfriend, Cody, and Julia’s two sons, Ryan and Gabriel. They have many huskies and Himalayan cats, as well as chickens. In their free time, they spend time at their pond or with their very large extended family. Julia is also a Girl Scout leader and leads their 21 girls in a multi-level troop ranging from three-year-olds to seniors in High School with five other amazing leaders!
Julia feels lucky to be a part of FMS and Fairfield Community Schools! She feels so at home and loves working with all the students daily to make a difference.
A colleague stated, “Julia works so incredibly hard every day. She’s often at school by 7 am to prep and gets ready for the day. She’s never afraid to ask questions and is always willing to learn. She is so caring towards students and listens to them intently. She’s always smiling and pumping kids up to have a positive and wonderful day. This is her first year, and it is well deserved for this shout-out!” Julia, thank you for being a part of our team! We appreciate you.”
