Washington Elementary Receives PBIS Honors Award
It is with great pleasure we announce that Washington Elementary School has received the PBIS Honor School Award from the Iowa Department of Education. This award recognizes Washington Elementary School for our great effort, enthusiasm and commitment that has brought us to this level of implementation of School-wide PBIS.
School-wide PBIS is our Positive Behavior and Intervention Supports program. For more detailed information on what PBIS is check here: /vnews/display.v/ART/51005cca51734
To receive this recognition, schools must show evidence that certain criteria were met. Specific criteria included having a representative, school-based leadership team who developed the necessary tools and products, and have rolled out their PBIS plan to students, staff and families. Honor schools teach and acknowledge behavioral expectations and institute consequences for behaviors not consistent with the expectations. In addition, Honor schools utilize data to make decisions and use this data to update action plans to enhance implementation. Our products, data and action plan for future steps to implementation have been reviewed and our award was endorsed by our AEA PBIS Coordinator and the PBIS Iowa Leadership Team.
We are very pleased to receive this award. We look forward to continued success with our PBIS program and the excellent staff and students at Washington Elementary. We are very proud to be Washington Elementary Trojans, where Trojans are respectful, Trojans are responsible, Trojans are safe.
