Meet Gianna Lopez, Washington Elementary First Grade Teacher
Gianna stated she is beyond grateful to be this week’s shoutout!
Gianna was born and raised in a suburb an hour outside of Chicago. She came to Iowa to attend Iowa Wesleyan University and graduated with a bachelor’s in Elementary Education, two endorsements in Reading and Special Education, and a minor in Psychology. After completing her student teaching at Pence, Gianna moved to the Fairfield district. She loved the idea of being back in an area where she knows she is supported.
Gianna is the youngest of three children and has two amazing parents who have supported them through everything. She has two nephews and a niece that Gianna adores so much, except when they decide to have an attitude.
Gianna enjoys watching movies, reading, and cooking in her free time. As for movies, she enjoys documentaries and true crime. When it comes to cooking, Gianna tries to make things she hasn’t made before and perfect them over time.
This is Gianna’s 1st year of teaching, and she loves every second of it. She is thankful to be a part of a team who supports one another and puts the kids first! Gianna genuinely believes that she has found her home away from home. Being far away from family has been difficult, but Gianna is glad to have a
community that lifts her and ensures that she never feels alone. A parent said the following about Gianna.
“Ms. Lopez has gone above and beyond to make my child and others feel special. She has created flashcards for my son when he needs a little extra help with his sight words. When he colored several pieces of art that were special to him, she gave him a binder and helped him create a book to show others his artwork. She is constantly thinking of ways to help each individual student become the best they can be! What a great addition to the wonderful team at Washington Elementary!” Gianna, thank you for being a part of Fairfield Community School District. We appreciate you and your dedication to your students.
